This section is divided into steps that will help you finish setting up your systems and technology, and prepare you for your onboarding meeting with the LanguageBird team.
Follow the video and step-by-step tutorials below to get you all set up for teaching!
Step 1: Set Up Your Availability.
Setting up your availability is essential to creating a smooth experience for you and your students. Availability is managed in MyLanguageBird, LanguageBird’s student information and scheduling system. MyLanguageBird is where you will find your student information and submit attendance once you begin teaching. This guide, however, focuses specifically on the calendar section used to set and manage your availability.
Because LanguageBird serves students across different schools, time zones, and schedules, maintaining an accurate and up‑to‑date calendar allows us to match students efficiently and avoid scheduling issues.
Clear availability helps us place students appropriately, minimize conflicts and last‑minute changes, ensure consistent lesson access, and provide flexibility for makeups and planned time away. Setting your availability accurately and in advance supports effective planning and benefits both instructors and learners.
In summary, we ask that you set…
- At least 15 hours of recurring Availability per week, scheduled at least 8 months out, to give us the flexibility needed to place students with varying schedules
- At least 1 hour of Makeup Availability per week, so students have options to make up missed lessons or accelerate their progress when needed
- Unavailability for any planned time off, such as vacations or one‑off appointments, to ensure lessons are not scheduled while you’re away
Taking the time to set up and maintain your availability helps create a reliable, student‑centered experience and allows the LanguageBird team to support you effectively throughout the year.
